Home insurance goes beyond being there for you in case of a fire or other disaster. It’s actually a pretty powerful tool for homeowners. That’s why it is important for every homeowner to look at their options and make sure their home is protected—inside and out—with a good home insurance plan. Mayfield Insurance will work with our top-rated carrier network to help you find the right home insurance plan based on your needs and budget. We’ll walk you through all the options and help you see there’s so much more to it than simply fulfilling a bank loan requirement. There are many ways it can help you save thousands of dollars in repairs.
What home insurance options are there?
A standard home insurance policy covers four key areas—the physical structure, your personal belongings, temporary living expenses and liability protection. Of course, there are minimum requirements that all home insurance policies must have. For example, liability protection is automatically included in your policy, but you do have some flexibility on exactly what you insure and how much your policy will cover. You can also add additional coverages, like insuring jewelry or protecting yourself from some big-ticket repairs with an equipment breakdown add-on.
How do I bring my premiums down?
There are a lot of ways to save money on your home insurance. Typically, if you insure both home and auto with the same insurance carriers, you’ll save quite a few dollars. There are also discounts for seniors, those that have a newly constructed home, homes with new roofs and more, depending on the policy selected.
Am I required to do a home inventory with my policy?
While it isn’t required, having a current home inventory in your file will go a long way in helping move a claim along. Fortunately, there are some great apps you can download to your smartphone that will help you organize your listings. Two of our favorites are Sortly and Encircle Home Inventory. Both are free and available for iPhone and Android.
Mayfield Insurance also offers renters insurance.
